Maldives Blogger, Yameen Rasheed Stabbed To Death

Renowned local blogger and social media activist in Maldivian capital Male, Yameen Rasheed has been found stabbed to death in the stairwell of a house in the wee hours of this morning.

Police spokesperson said the 29 year old was found with severe stab injuries around 3am Sunday and was rushed to state run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

According to a family member, the victim renowned for his strong views on politics and religious extremism through 'The Daily Panic' handle was stabbed multiple times in the neck and chest.

Police confirmed that the attack on Yameen, a native of the southernmost Atoll Addu's Feydhoo was premeditated, though the motive remains unclear.
