At the last Oscar  on Sunday , Actress Viola Davis won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Fences thereby breaking multiple records. First, she is the only black woman ever to win an Oscar, an Emmy, a Tony, a Golden Globe, a SAG, and a BAFTA award. She is also the most nominated black woman in history and the first black woman to pick up the "Triple Crown" of acting...Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy Earlier this year, Viola won the Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actress, in 2015, she won an Emmy for her role in How To Get Away With Murder. She's also won two Tony awards, first in 2001 and again in 2010. In an industry where a certain idea of beauty is promoted and expected to succeed, Viola has been able to rise above that stereotype to achieve what a lot of people can only dream of.

41 Nigerian women, some of them in their 20s, who are victims of Human trafficking, returned to Nigeria from Mali, yesterday February 27th. They were received by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora Matters, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, along with officials of the National Agency for Protection and Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and other government officials.  The women arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos in an aircraft belonging to the Nigeria Air Force. Speaking at the airport, Abike Dabiri-Erewa said “They were deceived into embarking on the journey. We will ensure we train them to the state of proficiency in different vocations, after which we will trace their parents and counsel them. The NAPTIP has been tasked with rehabilitating the victims. A South African family was left horrified after they found a naked woman sleeping in bed next to their 4 year old daughter. According to the little girl's mother, Casma Selepe, 34, the incident happened at their resident in  Solomondale, in South Africa’s Limpopo Province.   She put her children to bed at 9.15 before going to sleep. Her husband who was initially out came back and discovered someone sleeping next to their daughter.  “My youngest child is four years old and she sleeps in our room on a separate mattress. She was sleeping peacefully until my husband arrived home and woke me up – asking who the person sleeping next to our little girl was.” The mysterious intruder, who was naked, gave no response when they asked her how she had got into the house or what she was doing there. The family were left horrified after insisting all the windows and doors were closed and securely locked. Some people in the area has described lady as a witch.

Nigerian man identified as Oguadinma Somto, pictured above, died on the plane while returning to Malaysia some days ago. According to his friend/Facebook user, Princess Bonita Bolingo, Somto left Nigeria healthy but suddenly died on the plane he boarded back to Malaysia where he resides. 

Two police officers for the police force in Rosario, Argentina, are facing disciplinary action after a sextape they made inside their patrol car while on duty was leaked online. She's now the fifth transgender woman to be killed in 2017. Gibson was fatally shot in New Orleans on Saturday February 25, 2017 while she was in town celebrating Mardi Gras. According to reports, multiple gunshots were heard at the 4300 block of Downman Road, outside of a shopping center around  8:30 p.m.  Gibson was found between two parked cars and pronounced dead at the scene.  Gibson was born Walter Flemming but was known widely as Gibson on and off stage. Paul Rose, a British writer and guitarist with 12 solo albums of his own is suing popular rock band U2 (Bono, Edge and the boys) saying they jacked the music for "The Fly" (released by U2 in 1991) from his 1989 song "Nae Slappin." In the court documents, Rose says he recorded a demo and gave it to Island Records, which circulated it and repeatedly listened to in its offices. That same year, Island Records signed U2 and Rose thinks it's no coincidence  that "The Fly" the lead single from U2's "Achtung Baby" album features a guitar hook and solo nearly identical to the one in "Nae Slappin." The Chinese government is currently considering giving families financial incentives to have a second child in a bid to reach higher birth rate targets.  This marks a dramatic turn around from more than four decades of the country's one-child policy when there were harsh penalties for having more than one, including fines and forced abortions. Wang Peian, the vice-minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), said the commission is considering "birth rewards and subsidies" for second children. Wang made the announcement  on Saturday  during a meeting of the China Social Welfare Academy, a Chinese NGO that works closely with the government. According to China Daily, the announcement was in part prompted by a survey the NHFPC carried out in 2015, showing that 60% of families polled were reluctant to have a second child because of financial constraints.

Two women implicated in the killing of the estranged brother of North Korea's leader are to be charged with murder tomorrow, Malaysia's prosecutor says. Attorney General Mohamed Apandi Ali said the women - from Indonesia and Vietnam - would be formally charged and could face death if convicted. The women allegedly smeared a deadly chemical over Kim Jong-nam's face at a Malaysia airport earlier this month. They have said they thought they were taking part in a TV prank. "They will be charged in court under Section 302 of the penal code," the attorney general said, confirming that they would face a mandatory death sentence if found guilty. He said no decision had yet been taken on whether to charge a North Korean man, who is also being held over the killing.

A German man has been beheaded by Abu Sayyaf militants in the southern Philippines after a deadline to pay his ransom passed. Philippine and German officials confirmed that 70-year-old Jurgen Kantner had been killed after being held for three months by the Islamist militant group. It was the second time Kantner, 70, had been abducted. He was held along with his partner, Sabine Merz, by Somali pirates for nearly two months in 2008. Abu Sayyaf posted a gruesome video of its militants killing the man with a curved knife. The video was distributed by the SITE Intelligence Group. "The Federal Chancellor condemns the abominable act, which once again shows how unscrupulous and inhumane these terrorists are. We all must stand together and fight against them," German Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman Steffen Seibert said.

A teacher has admitted to hiring gunmen to shoot her cheating husband, an ex border ranger in the Thung Song area of Nakorn Sri Thammara, Thailand. Wichai Seedarort, 61, had just taken his wife, Rawwadee Seedarot, 55, to school last Friday morning, February 24th, on a motorcycle and was on his way home when he was shot three times in the back, reported Thairath. A 27-year-old Indonesian man collapsed while being publicly caned for standing with a woman who is not his wife in contravention of strict Islamic laws. Herizal bin Yunus, who was one of eight people publicly punished on Monday for breaking the province's Islamic regulations, fainted after being caned eight times in front of a crowd in Aceh. Officials carried him off stage after he collapsed during the punishment outside a mosque in the provincial capital Banda Aceh. But after he was examined by a doctor, the officials were told he was in good health, and he was taken back up on stage to be flogged another 14 times. Herizal had been sentenced to be caned a total of 22 times for breaking the Islamic laws that forbid people in Aceh from spending time with members of the opposite sex who are not their husband or wife.

North Korea has executed five senior security officials for making false reports to leader Kim Jong Un - according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency. South Korea's National Intelligence Service reportedly told lawmakers in a private briefing that the North Korean Leader had become "enraged" at what he deemed to be false reports. The victims were said to have worked in the same department as former state security chief Kim Won Hong, who was dismissed last month amid allegations of corruption. Kim Jong Un has reportedly executed a large number of government officials since taking power in 2011. The latest reports come as Malaysia investigates the poisoning death there of Kim's estranged elder half brother, Kim Jong Nam.
