A British teenager has died after falling from the balcony of a high-rise apartment in Sydney following a night of drinking.
The victim was identified as an 18-year-old man who had recently moved into the inner-city apartment.
He plummeted to his death from a 16th floor balcony at Saunders Street in Pyrmont, about 3.30am on Saturday.
The spokeswoman said a full post-mortem was needed to determine if he was intoxicated.
She later confirmed the dead man lived in the unit and was a British national, adding his fall was unrelated to a noise complaint police received on Friday night.
A friend of the deceased teenager was filmed by Seven News clearly in shock with his head in his hands.
A resident of the apartment complex Paul Rowlatt said he went outside after the tragedy.
'I heard a huge thud. I came down and this girl so, "Oh, someone's fallen out of the window",' he told Seven News.
A neighbour said he heard a loud noise before finding the man's body outside.
'I heard the thud and thought someone had thrown a TV out of the window or something,' he said.
