An elderly German was strangled to death by his Thai wife on Monday night, September 24, at their home in Phuket,Thailand.
52-year-old Nirandorn Pratumsin entered Chalong Police Station at around 10pm and told the duty officer she had murdered her foreign husband following an argument.
When officers and a medical examiner arrived at the house
it was locked and in darkness. Upon entering the body of Johann
Friedrich Speckbacher, 79, was soon found laid on the floor by the
kitchen table.
Other than rope marks to the neck, no other injuries were found on the body and no signs of a disturbance in the home.
During questioning Nirandorn told police the couple had been having a heated argument around 7pm when she snapped and lost control of herself.
She admitted to fetching a rope, placing it around her
husbands neck and strangling him to death then lighting incense sticks
to pray and ask for forgiveness.
She then went to the police station and confessed.
Thai media report that she has been charged with murder and held pending further investigation and legal proceedings.
