Malawi MP wants all Ministers searched after N73M was found in a Minister's house

An opposition lawmaker, Jessie Kabwila on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, asked that all ministers should be searched for stashes of money. Her request follows the discovery of K166 million (N73M) in the residence of George Chaponda, the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, who has been fired.
According to Nyasa Times, K166 million, $58 000 and other currencies such as Pulas of Botswana and South African Ran were all discovered at his home.

While speaking at the National Assembly, Kabwila  said some cabinet ministers are keeping huge sums of money in their homes when the majority of Malawians are suffering.

However, Speaker of the National Assembly Richard Msowoya, ruled Kabwila out of order, saying this was not her job.
